roflmao, when I can have my brain integrated into a computer which produces a perfectly accurate simmulation of the real world, then I'll happilly spend all my time on the computer

What makes people believe they exist? A mere physical prescence and some control, a rock could be alive in a different way, and no one could understand that as reality.

well if you read around philosophy such as the work of Descartes you find that the only conclusive thing we can deduce about our existence is that we are a thinking thing that thinks. The external world is not a certain thing, it could be anything, for example other animals percieve the world in a completely different way to what we do. So infact the universe is just represented to us in the way that our brains percieves the information it recieves, or could simply be created by our own minds and we are living in a completely deluded reality.

How do we know we are in control of our body? It moves and breathes, but do you really control all of that with some inner mind? We may think of what to do or say, but it could be mere prediction on our part.
